IRS Individual Online Accounts
IRS encourages all taxpayer to create online accounts

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) recently issued a statement encouraging all individual taxpayers to create an IRS Individual Online Account to access their tax information securely online. This account is available to anyone who can verify their identity. Historically, the online accounts let individuals:
- View key tax return information on previously filed returns, including adjusted gross income
- Request an identity protection PIN and obtain it throughout the year
- Check the status of their refund and amended return
- Get account transcripts, including wage and income records
- Receive and view over 200 IRS notices
- Make and cancel payments, as well as set up or modify payment plans, and check their account balance
Recently, the IRS expanded documents available on the IRS Individual Online Account to include tax forms, including Forms W-2, 1095-A, 1099-DIV, 1099-INT, 1099-MISC, and 1099-NEC. This could greatly help individuals who did not receive or misplaced these tax forms.
